ASHRAE Scholarships

THE DETROIT CHAPTER OF THE AMERICAN SOCIETY OF HEATING, REFRIGERATION, AND AIR-CONDITIONING ENGINEERS, INC.

2021 JOSEPH B. OLIVIERI SCHOLARSHIP

 

Eligibility Requirements_________________________________________________________________________

  1. Full-time enrollment in an undergraduate program, at a college or university located within the Michigan counties of Hillsdale, Jackson, Lenawee, Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, Washtenaw or Wayne; accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) or the National Architecture Accreditation Board (NAAB); and leading to a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering, Bachelor of Architecture, or Masters of Architectural Engineering. High school seniors with proof of enrollment status for Fall of the applicable year may apply.
  2. A cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 on a scale where 4.0 is the highest achievable level.
  3. Family members of anyone currently on the Student Activities Committee or Board of Governors of the Detroit Chapter of ASHRAE, and students receiving scholarships from ASHRAE or any of its other chapters are ineligible.

 

Submission Requirements_______________________________________________________________________

  2. An official transcript of high school or college grades from most recently completed term of study and, if applicable, an official transcript of completed college coursework from school(s) previously attended.
  3. Letter of recommendation, with contact information, from one collegiate reference who has knowledge of your academic performance and career goals.
  4. Essay response of 1,250 words or less, typed in Times New Roman 12 point font to the following question: How will your future work contribute to maintaining the sustainability of the built environment or the environmental control systems within them? Note: Essay response can be an attached document (electronic only) from a word processor.

 

Deadlines and Mailing Instructions________________________________________________________________

  1. Completed applications, with official transcript, letter of recommendation, and essay response must be received by Midnight on April 23rd, 2021.

Award________________________________________________________________________________________

  1. Award amount is $1,500. There are two (2) individual scholarship awards available.
  2. Recipients will be notified via email or phone by April 30th, 2021.
  3. Scholarship awards will be announced at the virtual meeting of the Detroit ASHRAE Chapter on May 18th, 2021. Certificates will be mailed to the recipients.
  4. Checks will be made payable directly to the school on behalf of the recipients.

2021 SHASHIKANT F. DANI SCHOLARSHIP

 

Eligibility Requirements_________________________________________________________________________

  1. Full-time enrollment in an undergraduate program, at a college or university located within the Michigan counties of Hillsdale, Jackson, Lenawee, Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, Washtenaw, or Wayne; accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) or the National Architecture Accreditation Board (NAAB); and leading to a professional degree in a field related to heating, refrigeration or air conditioning. High school seniors with proof of enrollment status for Fall of the applicable year may apply.
  2. A cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 on a scale where 4.0 is the highest achievable level.
  3. Family members of anyone currently on the Student Activities Committee or Board of Governors of the Detroit Chapter of ASHRAE, and students receiving scholarships from ASHRAE or any of its other chapters are ineligible.

  4. Essay response of two (2) pages or less, double spaced, typed in Times New Roman 12 point font to the following question: How can I change the world through a career in the heating, refrigeration, or air conditioning industry? Note: Essay response can be an attached document (electronic only) from a word processor.
