Meeting Topic: Increased Benefits of Packaged Controls and Components in Today’s Covid Environment
Coordinating sensors, controls and mechanical devices such as pumps, boilers and valves is critical to the operation of a functioning system. Facility owners want to be left with fully integrated solutions that reduce installation time and risk. Fully assembled packages that include pressure, temperature and flow sensors as well as the associated controllers, VFD drives for pumps, On/Off as well as modulating control valves and heat transfer equipment can be delivered to a jobsite and installed by contractors. These assembled packages can be tested for electrical performance as well as leaks and system operation prior to shipping.
Most commercial buildings are driven by plans and specifications. Packaged systems can meet the exact equipment specifications, and deliver a unit complete with controls that integrate directly to any building automation system.
Packaged systems can be designed to fit very tight existing spaces and allow for increased capacities as well. Package designers can create a tight fit drawing for use by consulting engineering firms to lay out the equipment in today’s increasingly small mechanical rooms and penthouses. With tight construction schedules and less skilled trades available to complete on-site equipment installation, pre-packaged skids and packages can help shorten construction time, commissioning and equipment start-up for many different types of systems and buildings.
Packages can be assembled and tested for systems such as:
- Steam to hot water heat exchangers with pumps and steam valves
- Snowmelt system pumping packages with heat exchangers
- Hydronic boiler and pump packages
- Domestic hot water heater and storage tank and mixing valve packages
- Domestic water pressure boosting packages
- Chilled water heat exchanger pumping packages
Because all these systems are custom fabricated and assembled, they can be made to specific project requirements. Packages can be made to arrive at the site ready for simple piping connections to be done.
Take the time to see how packaged systems can make your project go smoother and faster!
