Air to Air Energy Recovery: ASHRAE 90.1 and 62.1 Implications
Summary
With the update to the commercial Michigan Energy Code to include portions of ASHRAE 90.1 – 2013 standard, the use of energy recovery is now required in many applications previously not covered. Tom’s presentation will cover:
- What size and where recovery is applicable
- Energy recovery wheel applications
- Air classifications and impacts
- AHRI Guideline V and how that factors into the energy numbers
Dinner Presentation Bio
Tom Rice is a voting member of ASHRAE 62.1, vice chair on Technical Committee 5.5 for Air to Air Recovery Devices, and just rolled off as chair for AHRI chilled beams committee after serving 2 years. He currently is the director of sales for Air Quality Systems at FläktGroup SEMCO.
Tom has been sited and authored many articles. Tom has extensive product knowledge within the HVAC industry. Tom has been a speaker for ASHRAE, USGBC, S.A.M.E., LABS21, AABC, and many globally produced webinars through Energy Systems Magazine. He is a full member of ASHRAE and USGBC.
Tom Rice has a dual Bachelor’s degree Marketing and Management as well as a Master’s degree Business Administration.
Tom resides with his wife and three boys in Columbia, MO. When he is not working, he is spending his energies trying to keep up with the rest of the family.
